An Adelaide-based property developer wanted to redesign its corporate identity to accompany the launch of a major new residential building project, so the developer called in graphic design services agency Image Brand & Colour to redesign their existing brand and create a new brand for the development.
The brief included logos, corporate collateral, advertisements, a website upgrade, signage and exhibition display materials.
Diana Robertson, Managing Director of Image Brand & Colour, says the first step in the design process was gathering information about the company and its customers.
"We analyse the current brand, its management and effectiveness so we can help clients identify who and where their customers are," says Diana.
"In this case our market was young professionals, who want an upmarket living space with state-of-the-art, quality fittings and good security."
Graphic design research
Working collaboratively with the client, the graphic design team at Image Brand & Colour assessed the brand's strengths and weaknesses to help choose a direction.
"A brief was developed to help decide how best to communicate with the target market, and in this case develop a brand look and feel that says quality, low-maintenance living," says Diana.
With this brief, Image Brand & Colour started researching the benefits and elements needed to translate this message into the creative solution.
Beyond the logo
"There is so much more to branding in terms of its equity, positioning and effectiveness," Diana says. "We designed new company marketing collateral, signage, an annual report, exhibition displays, and developed a style guide so that communication within the business remains consistent."
According to Diana, this internal part of the brand development is particularly important. "It empowers employees and helps cement their relationship and ownership of the brand, and its ultimate success," she says.
Growing online
For this design project, Image Brand & Colour integrated its client's marketing activities online, which began with a website.
"Investing in a powerful web presence can take local business into the global arena," says Diana. "Today, so much purchasing is done online, along with discussion and recommendations from existing and potential customers."
Typography and colour
"The first impression anyone has of a company has to be right. So the colour, mood, look and feel of the company must be easily and immediately understood," says Diana.
For this new brand, Image, Brand & Colour chose a vibrant red, orange and tan, and a contemporary design and typeface that matched the modern facade and colours of the building.
Graphic design for growth
With a targeted and appropriate corporate brand image and a new brand for its latest development, the property developer ensured a continuing strong presence in the market, with the potential to develop new markets.
