Glass suppliers have innovative ideas to improve your premises

glassGlass is a versatile and sophisticated material, and can be used to great effect in businesses of all kinds. Whether you're an accounting firm or a nightclub, glass suppliers can advise on options to vastly improve the look - and functioning - of your premises.

What can glass suppliers do for you?

Glass suppliers can meet with you, take you round their showroom, advise on what look might be best for your business and present a variety of options.

"We've got some architectural glass reps and colour specialists that business owners can speak to who go through everything with them," says Steven Vas of Melbourne Safety Glass.

"We supply samples, and there's no restriction on these. We do thousands of samples a week - anything anyone wants, we make up."

Business glass suppliers

In a business setting glass is generally used for office partitions (usually coming in 2.7 metre to 2.76 metre sheets), or on occasion as feature walls. Some popular, innovative options include:

  • coated or painted glass for partitions (similar to that used for kitchen splashbacks)
  • laminated glass with different materials in between, for partitions
  • floor-to-ceiling coated panels of glass for feature walls.

"The coated glass used for partitions can also be used as a whiteboard," explains Steven. "It's essentially a glass wall that you can't see through; it's solid white."

More on trends in glass

According to Steven, glass bricks and highly patterned clear glass are out, while some hot trends include:

  • mint-green glass, often used as an alternative to white in glass 'whiteboards'
  • black glass, for its sophistication, edginess and reflective qualities
  • metallic glass, which ties in with the popular industrial look
  • clear glass with a 'straight line' pattern through it.

Benefits of glass

If getting your office looking snappy - and keeping it that way - is your main aim, glass is a perfect choice for many reasons:

  • It's easy to install, so your office can look better sooner rather than later.
  • It's easy to clean and maintain and never needs to be repainted.
  • Its transparent or reflective qualities create an illusion of space in smaller premises.
  • It creates an aura of sophistication and professionalism.
  • It divides space while maintaining an open feel to premises.
  • White glass can double as a whiteboard, so you save on office equipment and space.

Go for glass

It's undeniable that in this day and age image is all important - drab or uninspired business premises could well drive potential clients away. By using glass creatively, you can bring a contemporary, efficient feel to your place of business and get an edge over the competition.
